He was commissioned into one of the most reputed 19 Armoured Regiment after successfully passing out from the Officers Training Academy, Avadi, through the SSC(NT) 118 course. This is not only a success for himself but also a continuation of a saga of three generations of services rendered to India by his family.
Lt. Bhatnagar essentially comes from a service-oriented family whose roots have originated in the military. His grandfather was a retired Lieutenant General who had served as the Longest serving DGST with the rank of Lieutenant General. He received several distinguished service medals, which included PVSM, AVSM, VSM, and ADC to the President of India. He had a commissioned officer in ASC, who was also an excellent paratrooper and won the Commendation of Chief of Army Staff for his exemplary service. His uncle, Lt. Bhatnagar’s uncle, served as a captain and aviator in the Indian Navy.

Duty, honour, and discipline became part of Lt. Bhatnagar when he was born into such a martially rich background. His upbringing was further reinforced in Army Public School, Lucknow, whereby instilling the values of perseverance, respect, and service to the nation formed an integral part of his upbringing. His commitment to joining the military was very evident from the very beginning, as he cleared both his written examination and SSB interview in his very first attempt- a feat that spoke volumes about his determination and focus.
Lt. Ananay Bhatnagar dons his Indian Army uniform, ready to begin his journey with 19 Armoured Regiment- the family is proud since one more generation has moved ahead with the rich military legacy that this family has built up. Though this family tradition is the onus he carries, Lt. Bhatnagar is determined to make his mark in the annals of the Indian Armed Forces.
