Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, with an illustrious career in the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force, took over as Deputy Chief of the Air Staff at Air Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan. He was commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot on June 13, 1987. He is an accomplished pilot with more than 4,500 flying hours. He is a Category ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor. Initially, he paid homage to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi upon assuming his new role.
The Air Marshal is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, and he was commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF in 1987. He is a Category ‘A’ qualified Flying Instructor and an alumnus of the Defence Service Staff College and the National Defence College. He has commanded a Fighter Squadron, a Radar Station, a major Fighter Base, and finally, as an Air Officer Commanding in Jammu and Kashmir.

His other comprehensive staff appointments include the following: Operational Staff at a Command HQ, Air Commodore (Personnel Officers-1) at Air HQ, Deputy Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Financial Planning) at HQ IDS, Air Commodore (Aerospace Safety), and Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations (Offensive and Strategy) at Air HQ. Prior to their appointment to the present post, he was the Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Eastern Air Command in Shillong, Meghalaya.
The meritorious service rendered by Air Marshal Singh has been recognized by a host of awards, which include the Vayu Sena Medal in 2007 and the Ati Vishist Seva Medal in 2022, awarded by the President of India. As the new DCAS, he will deal with key areas under Air Force operations, strategic planning, and procurement to ensure the operational preparedness and technological advancement of the Indian Air Force.

His appointment comes at an opportune time when the IAF is in the midst of significant modernization and expansion.
